Playing with book titles

I’ve been having some fun thinking up titles for my non-fiction book, which I’ll be working on while I take a break from my novel’s finished first draft.

Oversensitive: An Anxious Writer’s Manifesto

Oversensitive: A Nervous Writer’s Manifesto

Thin-Skinned Warrior: slashing through assumptions and getting shit done

The Thin-Skinned Writer: How to make your sensitivity work for you in an insensitive world

Oversensitive: Thriving as a Thin-Skinned Writer

Oversensitive: God and the Thin-Skinned Writer

It’s a short list, I know. I’ll probably think of others. The book itself is still in the rough outline stage. I keep peeking at my novel and jotting down ideas for changes I want to make. I even wrote a new opening scene for it (couldn’t resist) on my Evernote app one night when an idea hit me before I fell asleep.

So much for being single-minded. I haven’t actually read any of my novel’s first draft since that first peek after I sent it to my Kindle (weeks ago). A few seconds’ reading were enough to renew my determination to take a break from it.

If you have any thoughts about any of these titles, I’d love it if you’d share them in the comments below.

Thanks, and have a great week! πŸ™‚

  1. Titles are tricky. Sometimes I find them easy, sometimes I find them difficult. Depends on the book I guess, sometimes the title writes itself. And I really like the ‘the thin skinned warrior/writer’. It sounds good on the tongue.

Like I was thinking about you, and your fiction book? Did the title write itself?

    1. My husband likes that one, too. πŸ˜‰ It just sorta came, when I was brainstorming titles, and it may be the best of the batch. I’m still working on the book’s outline, and I’m also making changes to my novel. The title “The Thin-skinned Warrior…” is part of my reaction to the idea that writers have to be thick-skinned in order to succeed. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment. Have a great week! πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you!!! You’ve made my day. I’m still not sure which one to settle with, but I’m leaning toward the last one (Oversensitive: God and the Thin-skinned Writer). I also really like the Thin-skinned Warrior one. πŸ˜‰ So, I’m conflicted.
